The inmates housed at MCF St. Cloud located at 2305 Minnesota Blvd SE in St. Cloud, MN are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. Custody Level: Level 4 Close

MCF-St. Cloud serves as the intake facility for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. After being sentenced by the court, offenders are transported to MCF-St. Cloud to be processed into the system and then evaluated. In the evaluation process, the DOC will determine the following:

  • The proper custody level for the offender
  • If the offender has any special health concerns, including mental health and evaluation for drug and alcohol abuse
  • After the evaluation is complete the offender will be sent to the facility that can best meet their custody level and programming needs. However, In some cases offenders will remain in St. Cloud.
  • JPAY tablets may not be ordered for offenders at MCF-St. Cloud until they have been incarcerated for 90-days.

Notable features:

In addition to educational programming, MCF-St. Cloud has a barber school and a masonry program. Originally built in 1889, MCF-St. Cloud is the oldest facility in the DOC system. The facility has an abandoned granite quarry inside its perimeter. Granite was once quarried by offenders and sold by the state. Much of original prison structure was constructed with granite and the facility is surrounded by the longest granite wall in the world.

If you need our assistance creating your own inmate profile to keep in touch, email us at aid@inmateaid.com and we will assist you in locating your inmate.

As a last resort, you might have to pay for that information if we do not have it. The Arrest Record Search will cost you a small amount, but their data is the freshest available and for that reason, they charge to access it.

Covid Visitation Information

Updated: January 4, 2021 (In-person visiting will reopen at MCF-Red Wing on January 6. Visitors can start calling on January 5 to make appointments)

COVID-19 and Visiting: In-person visiting is operating with the following changes for safe visiting. If a facility has two or more current positive COVID-19 cases, in-person visiting will be suspended at that facility until the active cases are below this number.

Based on direction from the Minnesota Department of Health, DOC will abide by the same guideline used in congregate living settings in the community. If a correctional facility has two (2) positive COVID-19 cases within a 14 day period, visiting will not occur. That is two cases combined among staff and those who are incarcerated.

Based on this threshold, the following facilities are not visiting at this time:

NOTE: This is the current plan but each facility’s status could change depending on the results of pending COVID-19 tests.

Please sign up to receive up-to-the-minute communication about changes in visiting schedules or rules by email or text message: https://mn.gov/doc/family-visitor/

The longstanding visitation policy remains in effect. But, due to COVID-19 some modifications have been made. Below are some of the changes being implemented. For more complete guidelines related to visiting during COVID-19, please click here:

  • All visits must be scheduled. You can schedule a visiting appointment by calling the facility, during visiting hours, and at least 24 hours in advance.
  • All visits are limited to one hour in duration, extended visits are not able to be offered at this time due to the need for social distancing in the visiting rooms.
  • All visitors must be screened, including temperature checks. If the temperature check is 100.0 degrees or higher, the visit cannot occur.
  • Barrier masks are required for all visitors over the age of 2.
  • Visits will take place with social distancing protocols in place, including staying 6 feet apart at all times. Physical contact is not permitted during any portion of the visit.
