Located at 3218 W Van Dorn St in Lincoln, NE, RTC carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. RTC offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
The RTC is a 176-bed maximum custody prison facility responsible for the reception, evaluation, assessment, and classification of all adult males in the state. It serves as the initial institution where inmates are officially assigned a custody status and placed in a permanent facility. DEC conducts ninety-day evaluation assessments for the court. The facility comprises a single building with nine offender housing units, an infirmary, program rooms, a gymnasium, and administrative offices.
The institution, structured as a two-story building, houses nine inmate units and an infirmary, which includes eight licensed hospital beds and a fully staffed initial admission clinic. Administrative offices and the infirmary occupy the upper level, while inmate housing, program areas, custody and case management offices, and the gymnasium are situated on the lower level.
For intake procedures, advance notice including names, dates of birth, and approximate arrival times is required at least 24 hours in advance. Male admissions are managed by calling the DEC admissions office or sending a fax, while female admissions are handled by contacting the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women admissions office or sending a fax. Preferred hours for receiving new commitments are during normal business hours from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, commitments outside of these hours require prior approval from the receiving facility.
Each new commitment must be accompanied by commitment and sentencing orders, specifying the date and commencement of the sentence, the offense(s), felony or misdemeanor classification, sentence length, jail time credit (if any), and whether the sentence is consecutive or concurrent. For drug-related offenses, the type of drug involved should also be noted. Additionally, all known medical and mental health information, including history, current treatment, and medication, must be provided at the time of admission.
RTC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
