NDC - Humboldt Conservation Camp (HCC)

Established amidst the scenic surroundings of Humboldt County in 1986, the Humboldt Conservation Camp stands as a vital institution within the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF). Its humble beginnings trace back to the utilization of 22 trailers repurposed from the Alaskan pipeline project. Serving as a designated fire camp, it plays a pivotal role in the state's firefighting efforts, capable of mobilizing up to six 10-man crews simultaneously to combat wildfires. Beyond firefighting duties, these crews undertake various project works during off-season periods, such as highway cleanup projects for the Department of Transportation or contributing to local community initiatives. Moreover, the camp's workforce is available for hire within the local community, facilitated by contacting the NDF supervisor.

With a workforce of 14 dedicated employees, the Humboldt Camp operates with the primary goal of providing a conducive environment for the rehabilitation and reintegration of its inmate population. The camp facilities comprise 76 two-man rooms, enabling it to accommodate a total of 152 minimum-custody inmates. While maintaining a focus on security and discipline, the camp also endeavors to foster an atmosphere conducive to personal growth and positive change.
