Located at 1724 SR 728 in Lucasville, OH, SOCF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. SOCF offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
SOCF is a maximum-security state prison housing approximately 1,625 inmates, including some of the most violent and mentally ill offenders in the state. As expected with its high-security level, the facility experiences assaults, fights, and high use-of-force incidents. SOCF operates a shoe shop as part of its correctional industries program, offering employment to inmates. Educational opportunities include adult basic education and GED classes, with additional vocational courses in building maintenance. Inmates from Ross Correctional Camp utilize SOCF's land for farming, with the harvested food donated to the Scioto County Homeless Shelter. Outpatient substance abuse treatment is also provided.
The facility offers unique programs such as the ADAP Cognitive Behavioral Treatment Program, a 12-week intensive outpatient care program for drug/alcohol abuse focusing on cognitive and behavioral therapy. The Reading Room promotes family literacy, providing children's books and inmate narrators who read to visiting children twice daily, supported by donated supplies and books.
Offender programs include community services like support for the Scioto County Domestic Violence Shelter and nursing home crafts/decorations, along with academic offerings such as adult basic education and GED classes.
SOCF maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
