The Solon Detention Center serves as a low/medium-security city detention center located at 33000 Solon Road in Solon, OH. Operated locally by the police and sheriff's departments, it houses inmates and detainees awaiting trial or sentencing. Most sentenced inmates have terms of less than two years. The facility also accepts inmates from surrounding towns and occasionally from the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees are regularly admitted to the jail, with some being released on bail or placed under pretrial services caseloads. Others may be supervised by probation agencies or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who remain in custody await their court appearances at the facility, receiving accommodations such as bedding and meals.

The Solon Detention Facility is classified under the minimum standards for jails in Ohio as established by theOhio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, Section 5120 of the Ohio Revised Code, as a full-service, adult facility. The minimum standards provide a basis for the minimum conditions necessary to ensure the safe, efficient, effective, and legal operation of a jail.

The Solon Detention Facility is a full-service, 26-bed jail. Fourteen of the beds are considered single cell maximum-security housing and 12 beds are dormitory style housing.

The jail houses pre-sentenced and sentenced prisoners. Sentenced misdemeanor offenders can be incarcerated in the facility for up to 1 year and sentenced 4th & 5th degree felony offenders can be incarcerated for up to 1 ½ years.
