The mission of the Welsh Police Department, in partnership with the community, is to protect life and property, to understand and serve the needs of the town's neighborhoods and to improve the quality of life building capacities to maintain order, resolve problems and apprehend criminals in a manner consistent with the law and reflective of shared community value. On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 around 7:15pm officers with the Welsh Police Department were dispatched to the area of the area of Prudhomme and Martin Luther King Streets. The officers were dispatched to a possible domestic abuse battery in progress. The officers were given a description of the suspect and victim.
