WI DOC - Gordon Correctional Center - Inmate Handbook

Gordon Correctional Center (GCC), situated southeast of the Village of Gordon, operates with an inmate capacity of 89 adult males, forming part of the Wisconsin Correctional Center System. Established in 1932 as "Camp Gordon," it initially functioned as a forestry camp, alleviating overcrowding at the Wisconsin State Prison in Waupun. Inmates engaged in forestry work and farming, producing much of their food on-site. By 1962, the center was integrated into the System. GCC emphasizes work release programs with local employers, aiming to secure post-release employment for qualified inmates. Offsite work opportunities are evaluated based on individual risk assessments. Inmates also access educational opportunities, including individual tutoring for High School Equivalency Diplomas. Additional programs cater to diverse inmate needs, contingent upon volunteer and community support. GCC's initiatives align with broader goals of rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society, acknowledging the privilege of work release and offsite opportunities, which are granted at the discretion of center authorities.
