Jackson Correctional Institution (JCI) is a medium-security adult prison established in 1996 as part of a $145.4 million building program aimed at addressing the state's growing prison population. Initially designed to accommodate 1,684 beds, JCI began with a 150-bed barracks-style unit and expanded in 1997.
