Do Inmate's Property Transfer With Them to a New Prison?

If I sent my husband his dress out cloths to the prison he was at, and he's been moved would the package go with him?

When an inmate is transferred from one facility to another their personal property is supposed to move with them. Clothing, including dress out clothes set aside for release, typically travels with the inmate as part of their property inventory.

That said, the process is not always seamless. Transfers happen quickly and sometimes property gets logged, boxed, and shipped separately rather than traveling at the same time as the inmate. There can be a lag between when the inmate arrives at the new facility and when their property catches up. In some cases items get lost or misplaced in transit, particularly during longer distance transfers or when multiple facilities are involved.

If you sent a package to the previous facility and the transfer happened around the same time, the first thing to do is contact the facility where the package was sent and confirm whether it was received and logged into his property before he left. If it was checked in before the transfer it should follow him. If it arrived after he was already gone the facility may hold it, return it to sender, or handle it according to their own policy on packages for transferred inmates.
