When an inmate is transferred from a county jail to a state prison after sentencing, the destination is not disclosed in advance. Facilities do not notify families of where an inmate is being moved for security reasons, and there is no way to find out ahead of time where he will end up.
The most practical approach is to check the Arizona Department of Corrections inmate locator regularly. Once your fiance arrives at his designated facility and is processed into the system, his location will update in the AZDOC database. That can take anywhere from a few days to a week or more after the transfer depending on how quickly the receiving facility processes new arrivals.
Go to the AZDOC website and search by his name or inmate ID number. Check it daily until his new location appears.
The other way you will find out is when he calls. Once he is processed into the new facility and has phone access set up, he will be able to reach out. That first call may take a week or two depending on the facility's intake and orientation process.
Seven and a half years is a long road ahead. Getting connected as quickly as possible once his placement is confirmed, and establishing regular communication through calls and letters, is the most important thing you can do right now.
