Saguaro Correctional Center is a multi-level security facility operated by CoreCivic, formerly known as CCA. It is not a local, state, or federal institution in the traditional sense. It is a private facility that houses Hawaii state inmates, which is why it is located in Arizona but holds people sentenced under Hawaii law.
For the general population inmates, visits are held on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Wednesdays are reserved for Special Management inmates, which includes those in segregation, protective custody, and similar housing classifications.
Before you can visit, your name has to be on the approved visitor list. Getting approved is the inmate's responsibility. He needs to meet with his unit team and submit your name for review and approval. Showing up without prior approval means you will not be let in, regardless of your relationship to the inmate.
Visit length varies based on how many people are there at any given time. It can range from about an hour on a busy day up to three or four hours when traffic is lighter. Contact during visits follows the CCA standard, typically a brief greeting and farewell with no extended physical contact during the visit itself.
Call the facility before making the trip to confirm visiting hours and any current restrictions that may have changed.
