The simplest approach is to call the facility directly. Call the main number, which you can find through InmateAid's facility directory or the state department of corrections website, and ask the operator or whoever answers to connect you with the case manager or counselor assigned to your family member's housing unit.
Have your family member's full legal name and inmate ID number ready when you call. Most facilities assign case managers by housing unit rather than by individual inmate, so the operator may ask which unit your family member is in. If you do not know the unit, the name and ID number are usually enough to look it up.
A few things worth knowing about reaching case managers. They handle large caseloads and are not always immediately available by phone. Leaving a clear message with your name, your relationship to the inmate, your callback number, and a brief description of what you need gives you the best chance of a return call. Be persistent if you do not hear back within a day or two.
Your family member can also find out who their case manager is by asking their housing officer directly inside the facility. In many cases the fastest way to get a case manager's contact information is to have your family member ask and pass it along during a call or letter.
