Sending newspapers to an inmate is possible and staying connected to the outside world through current events is something many inmates genuinely value during a long sentence.

There are two ways to approach it depending on whether you want a national publication or a local newspaper from home.

For national newspapers InmateAid offers subscriptions to several publications including the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, two of the most popular choices among incarcerated readers. You can set up a subscription directly through InmateAid and it will be delivered to your loved one's facility on a regular basis.

For local newspapers, if your local paper is still in print, you can contact them directly to set up a subscription delivered to the facility. Most local papers still offer mail subscriptions and are familiar with delivering to correctional addresses.

One critical detail that catches many people off guard, always use the facility's physical street address when setting up any newspaper or magazine subscription. Do not use the PO Box. Periodicals and publications are typically not processed through the facility's PO Box and using it can result in your subscription never reaching your loved one despite being delivered.

Your loved one's facility page on InmateAid includes the physical street address for over 3,500 facilities nationwide so you can confirm the correct address before setting up any subscription.
