Ask a former inmate questions at no charge. The inmate answering has spent considerable time in the federal prison system, state and county jails, and in a prison that was run by the private prison entity CCA.

Yes, but you should email us your telephone number so that we can check it to see if there are savings or not. It's good for about 70% of the population, but some phone numbers have no savings.

Inmates may not receive calls. They may receive mail or visits, but not a call from you. If you would like to try out postcard service, you can request a coupon via email and we will let you have the first one for free.

Visitation applications may be downloaded on InmateAid for free. Since you haven't told us where your inmate is being held, we would only be guessing as to the proper procedures. If you know the location, look it up on the Prison Directory and click on Visitation Rules for full disclosure of what you'll need to have in order to visit your loved one.

Subject: Sentencing questions

Since we do not know all of the specifics of the case, we would be making a wild guess as to why. Here are some thoughts. Past criminal history is a big factor, and so is going to trial and losing (prosecutors seek the highest possible sentence if they have to take the case to trial). If "conspiracy" was part of the charges, that might increase the sentencing guidelines.

It is perfectly safe to write an inmate, especially through InmateAid. When you use our service, there is no disclosing your location via return address. All correspondence uses the InmateAid corporate office address. You can write and not worry that the inmate has any personal information other than what you put in the letter.
