Ask a former inmate questions at no charge. The inmate answering has spent considerable time in the federal prison system, state and county jails, and in a prison that was run by the private prison entity CCA.

Ask your question or browse previous questions in response to comments or further questions of members of the InmateAid community.

Subject: Inmate services & supplies

Inmates can have pictures taken of themselves in the visiting room and on certain days of the year. If you are not in contact with that inmate there is little change you'd be able to receive one of him. The only other photos of inmates might be found in mugshot listings. There are no other ways to get inmate photos.

New arrest listings might take several hours or longer to post. You might try calling the facility and ask to speak with the case manager, counselor or unit team secretary to get more information.

The inmate profiles are set up by the member/users of the website. We do not monitor, verify or update the profiles unless requested by the member/user. But we are happy to help. Please send us the inmate's name and the new facility, once we have updated it for you, we will let you know.

Technically yes, practically it is difficult. Jail housing assignments are controlled by staff, and officers are not obligated to accommodate personal preference requests. Cells and pods get assigned based on classification, available space, and operational decisions, not inmate comfort. That said, there are a couple of angles worth trying. If he can build a decent working relationship with one of the guards on his unit, a casual ask may carry more weight than a formal request out of nowhere.

It would go to the company that has the monopoly contract at the location where the inmate is incarcerated. It could be one of thirty different companies. Send us your telephone number and the facility name - we will give you an honest estimate before you sign-up.

It could be a couple of days or up to several months. There are several variables that speed up or slow down the process. If you would like to send us more information about the case we might be able to offer some insight other than what we've written.

Our service will provide you with a new number for the next facility. When they transfer an inmate it almost always will require a new number to keep seeing a discount. When you know where they will be, email us the new location and we will get a new number for you within an hour - **_no charge_**.
