The rules are pretty narrow on this one. When transferring from a county jail facility into the Travis County SMART program, you are allowed to bring two categories of items with you.

The first is anything you purchased through the commissary during your time at the jail. Clothing, hygiene products, snacks, and other commissary items you bought with your own money are yours to take.

The second category covers personal mail, legal documents, and any personal writings. Letters you received, legal paperwork related to your case, and anything you wrote yourself all come with you. Hold onto those and keep them organized before the transfer date.

Everything else stays behind. Items that were not purchased through commissary or do not fall into the mail and documents category will not make the trip with you. If there are belongings at the jail that do not qualify, make arrangements ahead of time for someone on the outside to collect them so nothing gets lost or discarded.
