In general, all inmates must have a job. There are very rare occasions where inmates get off not working. Prison is like a community. The services that make a community run have to be maintained by inmates. There is food service, landscaping maintenance, sanitation and garbage, cleaning of the living quarters, laundry, recreation, education, health and commissary are all areas where labor is needed. This is all done by the inmates and supervised by the corrections officers. After the jobs are completed, there is plenty of free time for inmates. InmateAid stresses the need for inmates to better themselves while there. Reading is the great escape. We encourage our members who are inclined to help their inmate, to get them books and magazine subscriptions. Having reading material is essential to keeping busy in a constructive way and helping them stay connected to the outside work. InmateAid has launched a new Magazine Service. If you are reading this and are interested in magazine subscriptions for you or your inmate - email us at aid@inmateaid.com with the titles you want, we will give you a SPECIAL OFFER just for emailing us. Type in SPECIAL OFFER in the subject line and we will get you pricing normally not available anywhere!
