What is FDC Miami and how do emails work

My brother has been transferred to FDC Miami, what type of prison is this? how do I get his e-mails? He said that he has sent 4 but I have not received them.

FDC Miami is a Federal Detention Center, not a traditional long-term prison.

FDC Miami is a Federal Detention Center, not a traditional long-term prison. It is a high-rise facility located in downtown Miami and primarily houses pretrial detainees, inmates going through court proceedings, and some short-term federal inmates. While security is tight, it is not classified the same way as a standard maximum security penitentiary.

For email, the federal system uses TRULINCS, which is accessed through CorrLinks.

If your brother says he sent emails but you have not received them, here are the most common reasons:

  • You have not registered on CorrLinks using the exact email address he entered
  • You have not accepted his contact request yet
  • The message may be sitting in your spam or junk folder
  • There can be delays if the message is under review

To fix this:

  1. Go to CorrLinks.com and create an account using your email address
  2. Look for a system-generated message asking you to accept him as a contact
  3. Once accepted, you will be able to receive and send messages

Federal inmate email is not instant like regular email. Messages can be delayed, and you must approve the connection before anything comes through.

If you want more consistent communication alongside email, you can also use InmateAid services like letters, postcards, and photos to stay connected while you sort out the TRULINCS setup.
