Time Served, Cost of Incarceration - PEW Center on the States - Statistics

State by state graphical report on incarceration statistics regarding time served, money spent and the average cost per inmate.

Offenders released in a particular year here refers only to first releases in the year. First releases are offenders released from their original sentence, as opposed to offenders released onto parole, revoked to prison, and then re-released. Time served in custody includes both prison time and jail time counted towards a prison sentence. Time served drivers may not add to total change in time served due to rounding. See full report for additional notes.
