FCC in Alaska serves as a close security institution, functioning as an intake facility for Northern Alaska and offering housing for sentenced prisoners. It accommodates both male and female inmates of varying custody levels, including pre-trial and sentenced individuals. It has a maximum capacity of 259 beds with a booking facility, it holds a sentenced and unsentenced population of both males and females. With a staff of 92, Fairbanks houses all custody levels. There are often sightings of moose and other Alaskan wildlife who are frequent visitors to the grounds of the facility.

Inmates at Fairbanks Correctional have access to a diverse range of programs aimed at education, rehabilitation, and personal development. Basic computing courses and general education classes are available to help inmates earn their GED, while some inmates may also have the opportunity to enroll in college classes or prepare for college entrance exams.

Treatment programs at the facility focus on addressing issues such as substance abuse, anger management, and domestic violence. These programs aim to equip inmates with essential skills for conflict resolution and self-discipline, to reduce incidents of violence within the facility and promote rehabilitation.

The substance abuse treatment program, in particular, is in high demand, as it only accepts 25 participants per quarter. Inmates' eligibility for these programs is determined during their initial intake and classification process.

FCC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation Information

Visitors are required to adhere to instructions provided by any officer or staff member upon arrival. Visiting hours commence 10 minutes past the hour and conclude 20 minutes past the hour. Upon entry and exit, all visitors must sign the visitor log. Adults are responsible for signing in children accompanying them. Additionally, all visitors must present a valid photo ID, such as a Driver's License or State ID, and be at least 18 years old. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian unless they are a member of the prisoner's immediate family, in which case they may be accompanied by any adult family member.

Immediate Family Defined: Spouse, father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, and step relationships of the previously mentioned relative.

The earliest you can sign in for visiting is 10 minutes past the hour, and the latest is 20 minutes past the hour.
