The Adc Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR)-Douglas-Eggers, located within the Douglas complex, encompasses 5 units with varying security levels, including Gila, Papago, Mohave, and the Complex Detention Unit (CDU). Work crews from all units, managed by Arizona Correctional Industries and Intergovernmental Agreement assignments, undertake tasks within local communities and surrounding areas. These crews, exclusively from the Eggers Unit, engage in food service, building maintenance, vehicle upkeep, and general institutional maintenance.
In the realm of education, Douglas-Gila offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL), facilitating the attainment of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) by many inmates. Other educational programs include Mandated Adult Education and the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Work-based education (WBE) initiatives, in partnership with Pima Community College, cover fields like Building Construction Technology, Computer Technology, Automotive Technology, and AC Refrigeration certification, allowing inmates to pursue continued education through assigned tablets and cooperation with Ashland University.
Treatment and self-improvement programs at Douglas-Eggers encompass Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), available in both English and Spanish, along with Moderate Treatment for Substance Abuse. Programs, like Encourage to Change, Reentry, and Changing Offender Behavior, focus on preparing inmates for reentry through life skills training. Furthermore, initiatives such as Cultural Diversity and cognitive restructuring, alongside Peer to Peer training covering various subjects like Contemporary Visual Media Arts, Recovery Wellness, and Spanish, contribute to inmates' rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
