Located at 6911 N BDI Blvd in Douglas, AZ, ASPC Douglas-CDU carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. ASPC Douglas-CDU offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

The ADCRR–Douglas-Complex Detention Unit(CDU) operates as one of five inner-prison detention wings within ADCRR-Douglas, with CDU being the sole maximum security unit. The other units include Gila, Eggers, Mohave, and Papago. Initially, the Maricopa unit, now closed, was the first operational unit, followed by the Mohave unit. Due to prison overcrowding, portable modular housing was utilized to construct the Gila unit. The addition of the Papago Unit was necessitated for short-term DUI females, while the Special Detention Unit was introduced to manage Douglas inmates requiring administrative or disciplinary segregation.

In terms of education, CDU offers Adult Basic Education (ABE), enabling inmates to pursue their General Equivalency Diploma (GED) while incarcerated. Additional educational programs include Mandated Adult Education and the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Collaborative Work-Based Education (WBE) initiatives with Cochise College cover various fields such as Building Construction Technology, Computer Technology, Automotive Technology, AC Refrigeration certification, and Electronics. Inmates also have the opportunity to work towards an associate degree through classes offered by Cochise College.

Treatment and self-improvement programs at CDU encompass Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Moderate Treatment for Substance Abuse. Additionally, inmates participate in programs focusing on cultural diversity, cognitive restructuring, and Merging Two Worlds, which equip them with essential life skills to prepare for reentry into society. These initiatives reflect CDU's commitment to promoting rehabilitation and successful reintegration of inmates.
