Located at 6911 N BDI Blvd in Douglas, AZ, ADCRR Douglas-Gila carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. The ADC Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR)-Douglas-Gila, situated within the Douglas complex, stands as a state prison facility featuring 5 units with diverse security levels, the four others are Eggers, Papago, Mohave, and the Complex Detention Unit (CDU). Originating in response to a 1984 law prohibiting DUI inmates from sharing accommodations, the Gila Unit was constructed using portable modular housing.

Inmates at ADCRR-Douglas-Gila have the opportunity to accrue good time by participating in Work crews engaged in various tasks within the local communities, on institutional grounds, and beyond. Inmates from the Papago Unit contribute to labor assignments both within and outside the complex, including roles in food service, building maintenance, vehicle upkeep, and general institutional maintenance.

Work crews from ADCRR-Douglas play an active role in community betterment projects, operating both on and off-complex grounds, and within the complex perimeter. Opportunities for involvement extend to activities with the Wildland Fire Crew and employment with entities like Fiesta Canning, Inc. and Southeast Arizona Medical Center.

Regarding education, the facility provides Adult Basic Education (ABE) and supports inmates in earning their General Equivalency Diploma (GED) while in custody. Additional educational programs encompass Mandated Adult Education, Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), and Work-Based Education (WBE) programs in partnership with Cochise College, offering certifications across various fields.

Treatment and self-improvement programs at Douglas-Gila include Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Moderate Treatment for Substance Abuse. Inmates also engage in programs focusing on cultural diversity, cognitive restructuring, and Merging Two Worlds, aimed at equipping them with vital life skills for successful reentry into society. These initiatives underscore the facility's commitment to inmate rehabilitation and community integration.

*Visitors will not be processed to visit after 3:00 pm on any visitation day.
