The Atchison County Community Corrections is overseen by the Atchison Sheriff's Department and consists of six community-based programs that supervise both pre-sentenced and post-sentenced offenders, prioritizing public safety and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration. Working in collaboration with the County's Work Release Center, located at 729 Kansas Ave Atchison, KS, and other criminal justice agencies, the division oversees thousands of offenders in the community.

ACCC plays a vital role in supervising adult and juvenile offenders placed on probation by the Court, as well as assisting with Children in Need of Care cases. Our primary objective is to enhance community safety by offering services and referrals aimed at facilitating positive changes in our clients' lives.

We work closely with individuals to address their basic needs and tackle issues that may hinder their ability to lead pro-social lives. Through collaboration with local treatment centers, educational resources, and various service organizations, Atchison ensures that clients receive the support necessary to become productive members of society.

While under supervised probation, clients are required to adhere to specific standards, including compliance with all laws of the United States. Additionally, they must undergo regular urine testing for illegal drugs and follow a curfew established by their intensive supervising officer.

Part of the probation terms involves completing community service hours, the number of which is determined by the court. Furthermore, the court sets fines and restitution amounts that offenders must repay to the state before being released from supervised probation. These measures are aimed at promoting accountability and rehabilitation within the community.
