The Barbour County Jail is a detention center located at 24 Robertson Airport Dr Clayton, AL which is operated locally by the Barbour County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Barbour County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Clayton Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The Barbour County Jail is a 98-bed facility and is staffed with 17 corrections officers. It was built and populated in the mid 90's. It is located in Clayton Alabama just off of Highway 239.

Packages for inmates.

NO PACKAGES WILL BE TAKEN AFTER 3:00P.M.OR ON WEEKENDS. All packages must be approved by the sheriff or jail administrator.

Clothing for inmates.

Clothing must be purchased from the jail store. Clothing that has to be dropped off must be approved by the jail administrator. All clothing for inmates should be white in color, no zippers or any kind of metal objects attached, no pull overs with hoods, for female inmates no undergarments with any wire supports, and no clothing with any kind of designs or lettering will be permitted. All clothing will be inspected before issued to the inmate. Any clothing that is not permitted will be returned at the time it is dropped off or will be stored in the inmate's property.
