The Benzie County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 505 S Michigan Ave Beulah, MI which is operated locally by the Benzie County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Benzie County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Beulah Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Many times friends and families of inmates are frustrated because they recognize the need for their loved one’s need for help with a drug or alcohol problem. In most cases, the availability of these programs depends upon the size of the jail facility. The Benzie County Correctional Facility offers programs in alcoholics anonymous, substance abuse, church and bible studies and crisis counseling. The Benzie County Jail also provides inmates the opportunity to earn their General Education Diploma (GED), M.R.T., Bible Study, Chapel Services, Project Unity for Life, Search For the Truth, Commitment to Change - Men, and Women's Empowerment, while incarcerated.
