The Bureau County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 22 Park Ave West Princeton, IL which is operated locally by the Bureau County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Bureau County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Princeton Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

As of March 18, 2020, registration and visitation rules have changed to protect inmates at Bureau County Jail and their loved ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, there are no in-person visits for family and friends due to the COVID-19 situation. Video visitation is available; details can be found below or call 815-875-3344.
