Buena Vista Minimum Center often referred to as BVMC, serves as a facility for housing minimum-security offenders who are nearing their release from custody. Its primary focus is on preparing inmates for their eventual reintegration into society.

Inmates across all Colorado facilities are encouraged to participate in various programs aimed at providing education, work experience, and vocational skills. Both BVMC and Buena Vista Correctional Facility (BVCF) offer adult basic education and GED courses. BVCF provides a broader range of vocational training opportunities, including welding, construction, auto repair, computer courses, and more. Additionally, BVCF operates correctional industries such as a saddle and leather shop, as well as a fish hatchery.

At BVMC, correctional industry programs focus on training inmates for roles such as wildfire fighters, trail and heavy equipment crews, and working with canine units. The skills and experience gained through these programs can significantly enhance an inmate's chances of success upon release, facilitating their transition back into society.

Inmate Locator

BVMC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
