Located at 10900 Smith Rd in Denver, CO, DRDC carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. DRDC offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
The DRDC was established in 1991 to serve as the initial entry point for all individuals entering the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) system. Its primary purpose is to conduct thorough assessments and classifications of incoming inmates, ensuring that they are placed in appropriate facilities across the department.
Beyond its core functions, DRDC features several specialized units to meet diverse inmate needs. These include a 62-bed transition unit designed to facilitate inmates' adjustment to correctional life, a 36-bed infirmary to address medical concerns, and a 12-bed Special Medical Needs Unit (SMNU) catering to inmates with specific health requirements.
Moreover, DRDC accommodates approximately 96 inmates in its general population housing, where they reside while undergoing assessment and classification processes. Some of these inmates receive dialysis care at DRDC through the facility's auxiliary Dialysis Unit.

DRDC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
DRDC offers Contact, Non-Contact, Special Visiting and Video Visiting. In person visiting: Saturday and Sunday
Video Visiting: All visitors must be approved on the inmate’s visiting list. Video Visiting can be scheduled by visiting https://cdoc.gtlvisitme.com/. Visits will be allowed from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily. (kiosks are not available from 10:00 a.m. thru 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. thru 4:45 p.m. & 9:15 p.m. thru 9:45 p.m.). Visits must be scheduled by midnight day before the visit is to occur but no more than seven days in advance. Visits are offered in 10 or 25 minutes sessions. Inmates are limited to two visiting sessions per day.
