While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

Decatur County Prison (DCCI), often referred to as the Decatur County Farm, is operated by Decatur County and receives compensation from the State of Georgia DOC at approximately $20 per day per inmate for feeding, clothing, and housing. The facility, located on Airport Road across the street from the Decatur County Sheriff's Jail, currently houses over 225 state inmates and those sentenced through the State Court. Some of these inmates are assigned to guarded crews to perform labor or maintenance at various county buildings or job sites, such as landfills and along roadsides.

The Warden strongly cautions citizens, county employees, and family members of Decatur County Prison inmates against interacting with crew members who are performing services at these sites within the community. Inmates can be identified by their orange shirts and white pants with a blue stripe running down the legs. Personal conversations, physical contact, providing private, unauthorized transportation, conducting business, or being alone with an inmate are discouraged. Additionally, the public is instructed not to provide inmate crew members with any contraband, including cell phones, access to phones, magazines, pictures, money, food, drink, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, or any other items.
