The Elk County PA Prison is a detention center located at 250 Center St
PO Box 448 Ridgway, PA which is operated locally by the Elk County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Elk County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Ridgway Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Pennsylvania here.

Inmate Calling: A telephone is located in each housing unit for inmates use and is operational during times designated by the Warden. Phone calls are a privilege and can be taken away by a Supervisor. There is a twenty (20) minute time limit on all calls. Inmates are permitted a reasonable amount of outgoing phone calls per day, as long as use of the telephone is not being abused or dominated by an individual or group. Inmates may opt to purchase calling cards in denominations of $10.00 or $20.00 or their family and friends may setup an account to accept collect calls.

Commissary - An inmate may order commissary weekly by completing an order form and having the money debited from his/her inmate account. The Commissary offers a variety of items consisting of grooming aids, snacks and personal hygiene items. A list of items offered are posted in each Housing Unit.

If an inmate is considered indigent status the Commissary Officer will provide the inmate with an indigent pack including a pencil, writing paper and personal hygiene items.
