The FCI-Edgefield-Camp is a federal prison located at 501 Gary Rd in Edgefield, SC. This federal minimum security prison is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to hold inmates who have been convicted to and sentenced for a federal crime through the US Department of Justice (DOJ).

The Federal Correctional Institution Satellite Prison Camp, Edgefield (FCI Edgefield Camp) is a minimum-security United States federal prison for male inmates in South Carolina. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the US Department of Justice.

FCI Edgefield is located near the South Carolina-Georgia border, approximately 25 miles north of Augusta, Georgia.

Housing: Inmates at FCI Edgefield Camp are housed in dormitories, which are divided into two-person pods.

Health Services: FCI Edgefield Camp provides medical and dental sick call, emergency treatment, special housing unit sick call, prescription medications (over-the-counter medications are available through the commissary), voluntary HIV testing, and dental and eye care. Inmates must submit a sick call form to be evaluated for routine health care needs. Emergency medical care is available 24 hours a day.

Psychology Services: FCI Edgefield Camp offers brief counseling, group treatment, Anger Management, Stress Management, and Criminal Thinking, as well as other programs. Notices of upcoming treatment offerings are posted in inmate housing units. Inmates must submit a cop-out in order to request program placement.

Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP): FCI Edgefield does not house a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP). The camp houses a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP). Both facilities also offer a Drug Education Program and the Non-Residential Drug Abuse Program (NR-DAP).

Education Services: Inmates are interviewed by an Education representative upon arrival at FCI Edgefield to determine what type of educational programming is appropriate. Both facilities offer literary, GED, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), parenting, and Adult Continuing Education (ACE) programs. High school diplomas and post-secondary programs are available through paid correspondence programs.

Advanced Occupational Education: FCI Edgefield Camp offers advanced occupational education in Culinary Arts, ServeSafe, and General Services Automotive Technician and Forklift Operator.

Apprenticeship: FCI Edgefield Camp offers an apprenticeship in Culinary Arts.

Library Services: FCI Edgefield offers a leisure and law library. In the leisure library, inmates can check out fiction and nonfiction books, newspapers, and magazines. The law library offers typewriters, a copy machine, and the TRULINCS Electronic Law Library. Both libraries are open six days a week.

Commissary: A monthly spending limit of $360.00 is imposed. Once each week, prisoners can make a visit to the commissary. The housing units shop on a rotating basis. The rotation schedule is based on inmates’ registration numbers and is posted in the Commissary and all housing units. Inmates must have funds in their account to purchase goods. Stamps, Nicoderm, over-the-counter medications, and special purchase items are exempt from the spending limit.

Recreation Services: Recreation programs at FCI Edgefield Camp include indoor and outdoor activities ranging from individualized arts and crafts programs to intramural team sports such as softball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. The institution’s Recreation Departments are open seven days a week.

Commissary List - In 1930 the Department of Justice authorized and established a Commissary at each Federal institution. The Commissary provides a bank type account for your money & for the procurement of articles not issued regularly as part of the institution administration. Funds deposited by your family, friends, or other sources are stored in your commissary account that we maintain.

Covid Visitation Information

We remind all visitors to carefully review our special visiting procedures during the COVID pandemic, and also remind all visitors to observe applicable state and local COVID travel restrictions in planning your visit to the institution.

Please call 803-637-1500 prior to your visit to get the latest updates, time changes or visitation cancellations.

All visitors will be temperature checked with results annotated at the screening site prior to entrance. All staff working the screening site will be in proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Visitors will be in-processed on a first come first serve basis, adhering to social-distancing requirements. If distancing requirements cannot be met, visitors may be asked to wait outside for systematic in-processing to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Inmates on quarantine or isolation status will not be permitted visits - it will be the visitor's responsibility to check with the institution prior to arrival to ensure the scheduled visit can still take place.

The visiting room is designed to maximize social distancing, with a minimum of six feet between persons. Inmates are permitted two visitors per visit. To ensure equal opportunities, the frequency of visits determines any termination. Appropriate face coverings are mandatory for all inmates and visitors, all visitors wearing a mask will be provided one by the institution, theirs will be secured in the lockers in the lobby. No physical contact, photographs, food, or drink is permitted. A hand hygiene station, including alcohol-based hand sanitizer, is available at all visiting entrances and exits. Orderlies are assigned to each visitation room and will continually sanitize all touch surfaces, restrooms, etc.
