Dade Correctional Institution, a state prison for adult male inmates, accommodates approximately 1,500 offenders and is categorized as a level V facility for minimum, medium, and closed-custody inmates. The institution provides opportunities for inmates to engage in community service support roles, including work for the Department of Transportation and other interagency services.

Inmates at Dade Correctional Institution have access to a variety of programs aimed at personal development and rehabilitation. These include anger management and resolution courses, parenting classes, financial planning workshops, stress management sessions, and mental health counseling. Additionally, Narcotics Anonymous meetings are available for those struggling with substance abuse.

Academic Programs offered include GED and Pre-GED classes, as well as a Volunteer Literacy Program to enhance inmates' educational skills.

Chaplaincy Services provide spiritual support and religious education through programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Chapel Library, Chapel Band, Faith-based Self-improvement Courses, Family Matters/Domestic Violence counseling, Gavel Club, God Behind Bars, Kairos Weekends, M.I.N.T.S – Theological Seminary, Multi-faith Worship Services, Parenting workshops, and Prison Fellowship Programs.

Institutional Betterment Programs aim to promote personal growth and prepare inmates for reintegration into society. These include initiatives like Children of Inmates, Commercial Driver License (CDL) training, Compass 100, Dog Program, Exchange for Change, Law Library Program, Library Program, Money Matters financial literacy courses, Re-Entry Courses, Thinking for a Change, and support groups such as the Veteran's Group. Veteran's Program courses are also available to cater to the specific needs of former military personnel among the inmate population.
