The institution offers various academic programs, including Adult Basic Education (ABE), Aztec, Compass 100 Live/Hybrid, GED (General Educational Development), literacy courses, and correspondence programs, to empower inmates with essential knowledge and skills.

In terms of vocational training, inmates have the opportunity to participate in programs such as Environmental Services and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), equipping them with practical skills that can enhance their employability upon release.

To address substance abuse issues, FDC-Gulf Correctional Institution offers programs like Celebrate Recovery, Common Solutions Recovery (CSR), and Substance Abuse Prevention/Education, providing support and guidance to individuals striving for sobriety and recovery.

Chaplaincy services play a vital role in providing spiritual guidance and support, offering programs such as Anger Resolution, Basic Life Principles, Bondage to Freedom, and religious education sessions. Additionally, transition housing assistance and worship services are available to inmates seeking spiritual growth and personal transformation.

The institution also offers various institutional betterment programs, including 7 Habits on the Inside, active and passive sports, Alcoholics Anonymous, Anger Management, business seminars, Character Qualities, Financial Freedom, Gavel Club, Inside/Out Dads, Narcotics Anonymous, parenting classes, peer-to-peer motivational dorms, Thinking for a Change, and Victim Impact Awareness programs. These programs aim to foster positive behavior change, enhance life skills, promote personal growth, and prepare inmates for successful reintegration into society upon their release.
