In terms of housing, the Atlanta Transitional Center comprises two five-story buildings, each offering resident housing on three floors. The rooms within these buildings accommodate varying numbers of occupants, ranging from 2 to 6 individuals per room, providing a communal yet structured living environment conducive to reintegration efforts.
A cornerstone of the center's operations lies in its work details, which offer valuable OJT opportunities for inmates. With nine OJT details spread across various state agencies, including Custodial Maintenance, Food Service, Building Maintenance, Auto Repair/Maintenance, Landscaping, and Laundry Services, inmates gain practical skills and work experience that prepare them for successful reentry into the workforce upon release.
Complementing its vocational training initiatives, the Atlanta Transitional Center offers a range of counseling and rehabilitation programs designed to address the diverse needs of its inmate population. These programs cover essential topics such as Family Violence, Reentry, Job Readiness, Matrix, Basics World Of Work, Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous, Motivation For Change, and Detour, providing inmates with the necessary tools and support systems to navigate the challenges of reintegration.
In addition to vocational training and counseling, the center prioritizes recreational and religious activities to promote holistic well-being among its residents. The first step in the visitation process is to become an approved visitor. To do so, you must first fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit a completed form to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated. Please include a copy of supporting documentation (photo id, marriage license, and birth certificate) along with the application. Consent forms must be notarized before they can be processed. All visitors must apply regardless of age. They must also be mailed to the facility where the offender is currently housed (email forms will not be accepted).

Dress Code - For adults: No tank tops, no mesh or see-through clothing, t-shirts cannot be sleeveless. No chest, shoulders, or stomach exposed. A skirt may not be more than 2 inches above the knee. No stretch pants or shorts may be worn. Only children are permitted to wear shorts. No Contraband is Permitted
