Located at 1303 Constitution Rd in Atlanta, GA, Metro TC carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Metro TC offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

The Metro TC, constructed in 1981 and renovated in 1989, has a capacity of 235 residents and operates at a minimum security level. It was opened in 1982 with the mission to assist residents in making successful transitions back into the community by providing therapeutic counseling and social and employment skills.

Housing at the Metro Transitional Center consists of three buildings. Buildings A and B accommodate advanced Phase III and long-term maintenance residents, while Building C accommodates orientation, Phase I, Phase II, and Guide Dog residents. Each room contains three to four beds, totaling 234 beds.

Work details at the center involve providing work release opportunities throughout the Metropolitan area. Long-term maintenance residents are assigned as permanent workers for Helms Facility and other government facilities.

A variety of programs are offered at the Metro Transitional Center, including academic support such as General Education Diploma, Adult Basic Education, and Literacy Remedial. Counseling services include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Moral Recognition Therapy, Motivation For Change, and many more. Recreation activities include various worship services, Bible study, pastoral counseling, and choir participation. Additionally, the center offers a Vision Program for guide dogs and a Career Center for residents' vocational development.

Inmate Locator

Metro TC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation Information

VISITATION DAYS / HOURS:

  • Inmates with last names beginning with A-K: Saturdays 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM
  • Inmates with last names beginning with L-Z: Sundays 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM
  • Visitation will be open to all visitors from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on state holidays

The above-stated schedule will rotate approximately every 90 days, please check with the facility to confirm visitation hours.

The first step in the visitation process is to become an approved visitor. To do so, you must first fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit a completed form to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated. Please include a copy of supporting documentation (photo id, marriage license, and birth certificate) along with the application. Consent forms must be notarized before they can be processed. All visitors must apply regardless of age. They must also be mailed to the facility where the offender is currently housed (email forms will not be accepted).

Visitation Resources

Dress Code - For adults: No tank tops, no mesh or see-through clothing, t-shirts cannot be sleeveless. No chest, shoulders, or stomach exposed. A skirt may not be more than 2 inches above the knee. No stretch pants or shorts may be worn. Only children are permitted to wear shorts. No Contraband is Permitted
