The Imperial Regional Detention Facility (ICE) - MTC is a regional detention center for Imperial County and surrounding counties in California. The low-security facility located at 1572 Gateway Rd in Calexico which is fenced with razor-wire and perimeter patrol. The inmates are provided with the opportunities for rehabilitation and self-improvement through programs focused on vocational skills for when the offender re-enters society.

The facility was built as a medium-security structure, although now it is classified as low security. It is made up of modules each containing four dormitories (each with a sleeping area, dining area/ day room, and restroom), disciplinary cells, a multipurpose room, an infirmary, a visiting center, and security stations. It was designed to house 90 criminals per dormitory "block".

Facility Type

Department of Homeland Security oversees the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and has been given additional resources,including increased personnel to carry out the directives of the new administration which is focusing on securing U.S> borders, enforcing current immigration laws, and targeting individuals who pose a threat to national security or public safety.

ICE has set priorities for the agency's enforcement resources to be focused on the identification and removal of those individuals who have broken criminal laws, recently crossed our border, repeatedly violated immigration law or are fugitives from immigration court.

ICE has an Online Detainee Locator System that can be used to locate a detainee who is currently in ICE custody, or who was released from ICE custody for any reason within the last 60 days (https://locator.ice.gov/odls/homePage.do). You will either need to know the detainee's A-Number. The A-Number must be exactly nine digits long. If the A-Number has fewer than nine digits, please add zeros at the beginning. You are also required to select the detainee's correct Country of Birth. When searching by name, a detainee's first and last names are required and must be an exact match (e.g., Jose Martinez will not find Josue Martinez or Jose Martinez-Herrera). You are also required to select the detainee's Country of Birth. It is optional to enter the Date of Birth.
