Josephine County Jail is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

The Josephine County Jail is a detention center located at 1901 NE F St Grants Pass, OR which is operated locally by the Josephine County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Josephine County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Grants Pass Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Oregon here.
The 262-bed Jail was built in 2000 and currently is able to house a maximum of 30 Contract Inmates and 100 Local Inmates. The Josephine County Adult Jail incarcerates offenders in a humane, professionally sound manner and provides safe and secure operations.
The JMS provides access to in-custody inmates, however through a different mechanism than the prior JMS. This service is provided to the public on an 'As-Is' basis by the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office cannot change or modify the website used to view in-custody inmates.
The ability to place outgoing calls by inmates is a privilege. All phone calls originating from the facility are recorded and monitored. Inmates may lose their phone privileges at any time. Newly lodged inmates will have access to phones after completing the booking and intake process.
Outgoing phone calls are allowed between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM. The total duration of an inmate phone call is 15 minutes. Calls made by inmates are charged in one of three ways:
When receiving a call via the Inmate Phone System, a recorded announcement will precede your conversation. This announcement will contain information about the charges associated with the call, as well as how to block phone calls from the Jail.
Inmates are not allowed to receive incoming phone calls.
Jail staff will not pass messages to an inmate.
The Josephine County Adult Jail will not accept any inmate property other than prescription medication that has been approved by the Jail Medical Clinic.
Clothing, books, toiletries, over-the counter medications and other sundries are not accepted by the Jail staff.
Additionally, the Jail will not release property for an inmate lodged in the Jail without supervisory approval. Generally, only inmates who have been sentenced to prison may release property while in custody.
The jail accepts letter-sized envelopes and postcards. Mail intended to go to an inmate must include the sender's complete name and address. Inmate mail must be marked with the inmate's name and addressed to the Josephine County Adult Jail. Any items that do not include these items will not be delivered to inmates.

Any letters with excessive writing or pictures will not be delivered. Polaroid-style pictures are not allowed. Any letters or postcards with lipstick, perfume or any other foreign substance on them will not be accepted and will be returned to the sender. Failure to comply with Jail Mail policies is considered a Mail Violation. You may informally grieve this violation by contacting the Josephine County Jail Captain within 48 hours.
Money orders, checks and cash are not accepted through the mail system.
Inmates may have newspapers and books sent in to the facility and must be delivered by Postal Service or shipping carriers such as UPS or FedEx. Books may only be paperback, and must be sent by a professional bookseller or Amazon. No books may be sent by private individuals to inmates. Inmate personal mail will be scanned by Jail staff for safety and security purposes.

Inmates can have up to $200.00 in their inmate account, which enables them to purchase commissary items such as snacks and hygiene items. Medical bills and any monies owed from a prior stay will be deducted from their account.
The Josephine County Adult Jail uses TurnKey Corrections as our commissary vendor. TurnKey offers a service which allows friends and family of inmates to purchase select items for an inmate during their stay. These purchases are performed completely online using the TurnKey website. Online purchases cannot be completed using the lobby kiosk or through Jail staff
Bail may be posted at the Josephine County Circuit Court Accounting Office, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Court Accounting Office is closed on weekends, holidays and Court Furlough days. The Accounting Office is located on the 2nd floor of the Josephine County Courthouse (500 NW Sixth Street).
Please note: The Courts will only accept cash. Checks and credit cards are not accepted. There are no convenience or transaction fees for bail posted at the Court Accounting Office.
You can post money to an inmate's account on the kiosk in the lobby of the Josephine County Adult Jail. The kiosk accepts cash only and there may be a convenience and/or transaction fee.

Inmate Visiting Rules
Due to staffing cutbacks, the jail no longer conducts in-person inmate visiting. All visits are done by video on computers. Turnkey Corrections operates the jail video visiting and can be contacted for account set-up and assistance or video chat troubleshooting at the link listed below or by phone at 1-715-386-5700.
All visits are recorded and monitored for inappropriate contact. Visitors and inmates participating in behavior that may be inappropriate, offensive or involve criminal activity will have access to video visitation blocked. Minors must have approval from Jail supervisors to visit an inmate.
To visit an inmate from your home computer, go to the link below to sign up and get more information on the equipment required for video visiting. Video cameras are available for purchase on that website.
Video visits last 15 minutes each and cost 35 cents per minute. Visitors may visit multiple times per day from home. Inmate video visiting from home is available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for inmates housed in general population. Inmates housed in other blocks have access to video visiting on a varied schedule according to their housing assignments, and are responsible for notifying their visitors by phone when they have access to visiting.
Visitors are required to submit an on-line application with a photo of themselves and their state-issued photo identification at registration. Applications will not be approved without these items.
For those that do not have computer access, a computer has been set up in the Jail lobby. To use this service, visitors must call the Jail 24 hours in advance to schedule an appointment to use the equipment. On the day of their visit, they will be required to present a state-issued photo I.D. to check out the equipment used to video visit. Video visiting in the Jail lobby is available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Visits are 15 minutes long and each visitor may do two 15minute visits in a 1/2 hour appointment. Appointments may be scheduled twice a week. There is no cost for visits done on the Jail lobby computer.
