The Marquette Co CC Detention is a detention center located at 100 N Big Creek Rd Beaver Grove, MI which is operated locally by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Marquette County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Beaver Grove Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Michigan here.

The Marquette County Community Corrections Detention Center can house up to 60, minimum security. The facility is located off of US 41 South on Basil Road in Beaver Grove.

Since 1991, Marquette County’s Community Corrections Office has provided alternative sentencing options to the court. These programs are grant funded by the Office of Community Corrections/Department of Corrections. Public Act 511 of 1988 (PA511), which is Michigan’s Community Corrections Act, dictates the administration of comprehensive plans for Community Corrections programs. A variety of PA 511 sentencing options are now available to you. All of these programs are intended for the diversion of appropriately targeted offenders from part or all of their jail or prison sentences into programs specifically created to address their identified needs. The Marquette County CCAB (Community Corrections Advisory Board) is the authority to create local sentencing policies and programs based upon the state’s prioritized goals and objectives:

  • Reduce admissions to prison of nonviolent offenders including probation violators
  • Improve the utilization of jail facilities, the first priority of which is to open jail beds to house otherwise prison-bound felons, and the second priority is to appropriately utilize jail space so that jail crowding does not occur.
  • Open jail beds through the use of electronic monitoring, community service (work crew) and residential alcohol/drug treatment
  • Reduce the re-admission to prison of parole violators.
  • Reduce recidivism through substance abuse, prevention programs, job skills and work experience.
