Located at 400 Oak St in Taft, OK, EWCC carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. EWCC offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

EWCC resides on the historic grounds of the Indian Mission School Haloche Industrial Institute in Taft. Originally established in 1909 as the Deaf, Blind, and Orphan Institute, the site underwent various transformations before being acquired by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) in 1986. It was subsequently repurposed as a prison in 1989, primarily serving as a minimum-security facility for women.

The facility pays homage to Dr. Eddie Walter Warrior, a prominent figure who served as the business manager of the DB&O Institute and held significant roles in the Muskogee County and Taft school systems. EWCC's Regimented Treatment Program integrates physical training with six cognitive behavioral treatment programs, fostering self-discipline and behavioral improvements among participating inmates.

With a current population exceeding 900 inmates, EWCC continues its mission to provide rehabilitation and support to women offenders. Through a combination of educational, vocational, and therapeutic programs, the facility strives to promote personal growth and prepare individuals for successful reintegration into society.

Inmate Locator

EWCC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Special/Extended Visits

Special visits for ministers/religious leaders must be scheduled in advance through the Warden.

Requests for special visits must be made by the inmate using the appropriate request form and must be submitted by the inmate to unit staff at least two weeks in advance so verifications can be made. Exceptions to time frames may be considered in emergencies.

Ask The Inmate

Ask a former inmate questions at no charge. The inmate answering has spent considerable time in the federal prison system, state and county jails, and in a prison that was run by the private prison entity CCA. Ask your question or browse previous questions in response to comments or further questions of members of the InmateAid community.
