The Onondaga NY Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center is a medium to low-security detention center located at 4949 Velasko Road Syracuse, NY that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.

Youth who have pending juvenile delinquency cases in Family Court may be remanded to Hillbrook until the conclusion of their cases or until an appropriate alternative to detention can be identified. Youth prosecuted in criminal court and charged as Juvenile Offenders, may also be housed at Hillbrook until their sentencing.
If you are having problems with your child, there is help. Please call the Onondaga County Probation Department (315) 435-2321 and ask to speak to the screener of the day. The Onondaga County Probation Department can offer you a variety of individualized assistance and therapy programs.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact the Social Work department regarding all levels of communication with their child.

The social worker assigned to a youth will contact the primary parent or guardian to schedule phone calls.

Mail
Hillbrook will provide all writing supplies and postage. All residents are encouraged to write letters. Residents are not allowed to correspond with former residents.

Incoming mail will be opened by social worker prior to distribution to remove any items not permitted in the facility.

Juvenile facilities overseen by Onondaga County do not publish the names of the offenders housed in their facility. As such, there is no public forum for this information.
