When someone you care about gets locked up, it's tough to figure out all the ins and outs of jail life. From sending mail to visiting, there are a lot of things to sort out. And getting info about the arrest? Not always easy. That's where this webpage comes in handy. It's here to help you get a handle on how things work at Orange County-Intake Release Center (IRC) so you can stay connected and support your loved one behind bars.

The IRC is a detention center located at 550 N Flower St Santa Ana, CA which is operated locally by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Orange County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Santa Ana Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for California here.

The IRC has been operational since January 1988, serving as the central hub for all processes related to the booking and release of arrestees. Additionally, the IRC houses a substantial number of inmates for extended periods, with over 800 beds available for inmate housing.

The Transportation Division plays a crucial role within the Orange County Jail system, responsible for inmate transportation around the clock, 365 days a year. This includes transporting inmates to various OCSD facilities, court appearances, work sites, hospitals, state prisons, and out-of-county jails, and providing mutual aid response during major events. Transportation deputies utilize a diverse fleet of vehicles, including buses, mobile command centers, vans, and cars, to fulfill these responsibilities. They cover an extensive distance, averaging over 600,000 miles annually on the roadways. This division's dedication ensures the safe and efficient movement of inmates throughout Orange County and beyond.
