Lieber CI is for State Prison offenders sentenced anywhere from one year to life by the State Court in the county where the charges were filed

All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for State - maximum facility.

Located at 136 Wilborn Ave in Rembert, SC, Lieber CI carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Lieber Correctional Institution and Reentry Center, a close custody facility for male inmates, offers essential services and programs to support rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society. In terms of education, the institution provides literacy programs and GED preparation courses to enhance academic skills.

Vocational training opportunities focus on carpentry skills, equipping inmates with valuable trade skills for future employment. Lieber CI's industries include various recycling projects in collaboration with a private sector company and a tire retreading operation for the state government, providing inmates with practical work experience.

Healthcare services at Lieber CI encompass routine medical and dental care with round-the-clock coverage, including a licensed infirmary catering to the needs of deaf and blind male inmates, as well as access to area mental health care.

The institution offers a range of programs aimed at personal and spiritual development, including religious services, volunteer opportunities, alcohol and drug education programs, recovery groups, and Impact of Crime classes. Recreational services promote physical fitness and leisure activities, while the Going Home for Good Pre-release program facilitates inmates' transition back into society. Violence prevention initiatives and collaboration with Voorhees College further contribute to holistic rehabilitation.

Lieber CI also engages with the community through initiatives like the Operation Behind Bars program, providing educational tours for at-risk youth and adults to gain insights into inmates' experiences and the factors contributing to criminal behavior.

Lieber CI maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation Information

Visitation is now open on Saturdays and Sundays for all institutions not on covid quarantine.

Visits must be scheduled ahead of time on the SCDC/GTL scheduler. If you have not created an account, click here to do so.

Visits will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be scheduled in 2-hour blocks. General population inmates with visitation privileges will be allowed four in-person visits per month.

Inmates may have one visit per weekend and up to four visits per month.

Inmates may have up to four visitors at a time, one of which must be an adult. Children of all ages can visit. Children age 10 and older must have a government-issued photo ID to visit. Children age nine and younger must show a long-form birth certificate.
