Perry CI is for State Prison offenders sentenced anywhere from one year to life by the State Court in the county where the charges were filed
All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for State - medium facility.

Located at 430 Oaklawn Rd in Pelzer, SC, Perry CI carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Perry CI offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Perry CI accommodates male inmates at both close and medium custody levels, offering literacy and GED preparation education alongside vocational training in carpentry and brick masonry. The facility's industries focus on manufacturing case goods for governmental agencies and schools.
Routine medical and dental care is provided onsite at Perry CI, with 16-hour emergency care available. The institution hosts a range of programs, including Step-Down and Lifer programs, peer support, substance abuse, Jumpstart, MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment), violence prevention, anger management, and art therapy. Additionally, it offers Silver Sneakers, 7 Habits, yoga, domestic violence, Assisted Living, Impact of Crime classes, battering intervention programs, as well as religious services, volunteer services, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and pre-release initiatives.
Community engagement is a priority for Perry CI, which provides an Operation Behind Bars program allowing at-risk youth and adults to tour the facility and gain insights into inmates' experiences. The institution also supplies up to 120 inmate workers for various state, county, and municipal projects. Furthermore, Perry CI serves as a video conferencing site for parole hearings in collaboration with the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services.
Through its comprehensive range of educational, vocational, rehabilitative, and community-focused initiatives, Perry CI aims to facilitate the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of its inmates back into society while fostering a safer and more informed community.
Perry CI maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.

Visitation is now open on Saturdays and Sundays for all institutions not on covid quarantine.

Visits will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be scheduled in 2-hour blocks. General population inmates with visitation privileges will be allowed four in-person visits per month.
Inmates may have one visit per weekend and up to four visits per month.
Inmates may have up to four visitors at a time, one of which must be an adult. Children of all ages can visit. Children age 10 and older must have a government-issued photo ID to visit. Children age nine and younger must show a long-form birth certificate.
