SCCC is for Community Corrections-State offenders have not been sentenced yet and are detained here until their case is heard.
All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for State - minimum facility.

The SCCC is overseen by the Delaware Department of Corrections and consists of six community-based programs that supervise both pre-sentenced and sentenced offenders, prioritizing public safety and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration. Working in collaboration with the Department's Work Release Center, located at 23207 Dupont Blvd Georgetown, DE, and other criminal justice agencies, the division oversees thousands of offenders in the community.
The SCCC, situated in Georgetown, encompasses three Level IV (4) components: The Road to Recovery (R2R) Substance Abuse Treatment Program, the Sussex Work Release Center, and the Sussex Violation of Probation Center (SVOP). Each facility and program caters to male offenders and is designed to address different aspects of rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
The Road to Recovery program focuses on substance abuse treatment, offering support and therapy to help individuals overcome addiction. The Sussex Work Release Center serves as a transition program for offenders preparing to reintegrate into the community full-time, providing employment opportunities, medical appointments, and mandated treatment programs.
Meanwhile, the Sussex Violation of Probation Center (SVOP) primarily houses offenders who have violated probation terms, addressing "technical" violations such as failing to report to probation officers or failing drug tests. SVOP employs a military-style, highly regimented program aimed at behavior modification and community service to address probation violations.
Offenders at SVOP participate in community service projects and daily institutional assignments to instill discipline and responsibility. The program aims to help offenders adjust their attitudes and behaviors to successfully abide by probation terms upon release. This approach also aims to prevent them from returning to higher-security prison settings, freeing up space for more serious offenders. Overall, the Sussex Community Corrections Center aims to support offenders in their journey towards rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
