Located at 200 Lee Morrison Ln in Bryan, TX, Hamilton Unit carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. The Hamilton Unit, designed for male inmates, accommodates up to 1,166 individuals across various custody levels, including G1, G2, and Substance Abuse classifications. Situated on approximately 350 acres of land, the facility actively engages in agricultural operations, boasting a unit garden and participating in programs like the Texas Second Chance Food Bank and Texas Fresh Approach Food Bank initiatives. However, manufacturing and logistics operations are not part of its current activities, with the primary focus being unit maintenance to ensure smooth facility operations.

Medical services at the Hamilton Unit are comprehensive, offering ambulatory medical, dental, and outpatient mental health care, all conveniently provided on a single level for accessibility. These services are managed and overseen by UTMB, ensuring the well-being of the incarcerated population. Additionally, the unit hosts special treatment programs tailored to address specific needs, including the Pre-Release Therapeutic Community (PRTC) and the Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Recovery Program.

In terms of education, the Hamilton Unit provides literacy programs such as Adult Basic Education and GED preparation, along with CHANGES/Pre-Release and Cognitive Intervention courses. Career and technology programs are also available, covering fields like Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration, as well as Piping Trades. Moreover, the unit offers an adult education program whenever available, alongside chaplaincy services, a faith-based dormitory, and participation in the GO KIDS Initiative and peer education efforts.

Community engagement is a priority for the Hamilton Unit, with various projects aimed at giving back to society. Services are provided to the area food bank and the Texas Department of Transportation, reinforcing ties with the local community and contributing to its betterment. Inmate Visitation

Visitation plays an important role in maintaining the association between inmates and their friends and family as well as strengthening family ties. Visitation Procedure Update (effective December 28, 2023)

Preparing for your visit:

Before you travel to a unit:

  • Confirm the inmate is assigned to the unit you are planning to visit and has visitation privileges.

  • Confirm the unit visitation schedule and verify that visitation has not been canceled. An eligible inmate cannot receive visitors if visitation has been canceled.

  • Do not bring cash (except coins, not more than $35).

  • No cell phones inside the secure perimeter.

  • Spiritual visits must be coordinated through the warden’s office.

Each inmate is only allowed one visit per weekend. To the extent possible, individuals on an inmate’s Visitors List should coordinate with one another and with the inmate to prevent subsequent visitors from being declined when they arrive at the unit.
