The inmates housed at TDCJ - John R. Lindsey State Jail is a private state prison situated on 64 acres in Jack County housing 1031 adult male inmates in three custody classifications - minimum, medium and close (maximum). Nearly all of the men incarcerated at Lindsey State Jail will eventually be released. It’s MTC’s responsibility to provide a wide range of educational, vocational, substance abuse, cognitive behavioral, and life skills programs to prepare these men to successfully return to their communities. Lindsey State Jail is and houses about of 1,030 male inmates. Offenders are provided adult basic education courses, life skills classes, and can earn a GED during their incarceration. Vocational training is available in horticulture and computer applications. Additionally, inmates who are nearing their release date can participate in transitional planning and re-entry programs.

Offenders who have dental, medical, or mental health issues can receive off-site treatment. Support groups are provided to those offenders who suffer from drug and alcohol dependency. The Chaplains office provides religious worship services and biblical studies.

No cellphones, you will be searched before visiting. NO personal belongings. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit. Such visitation is not normally approved.

If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family. If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is not a family member of the inmate, the minor visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
