The Terrebonne Juvenile Detention Center is a medium to low-security detention center located at 180 Government St Gray, LA that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.

Visitation Information

Visitation Guidelines

  1. Visitation sessions are thirty minutes (0:30) in length on Saturdays and Sundays.
  2. Authorized visitors for all juveniles are parents/legal guardians, grandparents, and siblings over the age of 21.
  3. Juveniles are allowed only two adult family visitors on the day of visitation. Children left unsupervised will not be allowed to remain in the lobby.
  4. All visitors must arrive ten minutes before visitation time. Late arrivals will be denied visitation.
  5. Juveniles will not receive any items from visitors.
  6. All visitors must sign in and provide identification (School I.D., Driver’s License).
  7. Denial of visitation is based on the safety, security, order maintained, and safety of the juvenile involved. A juvenile may deny any visitor. Individual visits may be denied based on previous or current violations of facility rules and regulations by the individual who visited.
  8. All contact visits require administrative approval.
  9. Visitors will not be allowed to visit if dressed inappropriately. Prohibited attire includes, but is not limited to:
    • Dresses or tops with thin straps that expose the shoulder or chest area in any manner
    • Tube tops, tank tops, or halters of any type
    • Any clothing that reveals the stomach or midriff area
    • Any clothing made of sheer or transparent material
    • Shorts that are above the knee
    • Dresses, skirts, or other similar garments that are more than 2 inches above the knee
    • Any other type of clothing that is suggestive or revealing in any way
