Located at 3500 Woods Way in State Farm, VA, Deep Meadow Correctional carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Deep Meadow Correctional offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

Deep Meadow Correctional Center, a medium security prison located in Virginia, houses around 850 adult males in five open bay dormitory units, with each dormitory further divided into A and B units accommodating approximately 70-75 inmates each. Additionally, the center oversees the James River Work Center, which houses an additional 278 inmates. Inmates at Deep Meadow have access to reentry programs aimed at facilitating their transition back into the community upon release. The facility provides comprehensive medical, dental, and mental health care services, including a geriatric program for elderly offenders within the Virginia Department of Corrections.

Academic and vocational courses are offered to all inmates, and those at the James River Work Center have the opportunity to work on a farm tending to horses, crops, and dairy cows. Security Level 2 criteria mandate no escape history in the past five years, reaching parole eligibility for single life sentences, and no disruptive behavior for at least 24 months prior to consideration for transfer to a less-secure facility.

Opened in 1989, the center has an average daily population of 840 inmates (as of October 2008) and provides specialized classification for wheelchair-bound inmates. It offers reentry programs and features a dedicated Programs Building for additional services. While it doesn't participate in Virginia Correctional Enterprises, the center focuses on constructive inmate occupation and reducing unrest through various programs aligned with the broader goals of the state prison system.

Treatment planning begins upon inmates' entry, with tailored programs addressing security and treatment needs. Core programs encompass inmate work activities, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, and life skills programming. Substance abuse treatment includes intensive programs like Therapeutic Community, aimed at addressing underlying issues contributing to criminal behavior and reducing recidivism rates. Additionally, educational programs cover substance abuse consequences, and support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are available.

The center also offers a Life Skills program to equip inmates with essential knowledge for community living before their release. Other programs cater to diverse inmate needs, including behavior management, women offender support, anger management, geriatric care, and victim assistance, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation and positive growth.
