Drug Abuse Correctional Center - Inmate Handbook
The Drug Abuse Correctional Center (DACC), situated north of Oshkosh in Winnebago County, accommodates up to 294 adult male inmates, all mandated to participate in a medium- or high-risk Earned Release Program (ERP). As part of the Wisconsin Correctional Center System, DACC operates under a single warden's oversight based in Madison, overseeing 14 adult male correctional centers.
DACC's ERP, guided by Wisconsin State Statutes, combines Thinking for a Change (T4C) and Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse (CBISA) curriculums, supplemented by ancillary programs. While the standard program duration is 20 weeks, it's tailored to individual needs. Inmates engage in rigorous activities from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 6:00 p.m. on Fridays, excluding holidays, emphasizing community reentry.
Focused on successful reintegration, inmates collaborate extensively with probation and parole agents, addressing aftercare, residence, support services, and employment in their release plans, subject to staff approval and court notification upon completion. DACC fosters restorative justice principles, with inmates engaging in community service for non-profit organizations and serving as speakers in educational sessions on criminality and substance abuse for various institutions and community groups.
DACC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
